E.M.I.L.Y Robo-Baywatch

Summer time is always associated to beaches. Yes, that’s true but what comes with the beaches? Of course BAYWATCH, some of you may be have the same imagination about this one. Sexy, is one word that popped out in my brains. Thanks to David Hasselhoff for this! But for this summer, in Malibu you will not only see that sexy ones. You will see EMILY the Robo-Baywatch. EMILY stands for EMergency Integrated Lifesaving lanYard, will be out there to the rescue in Malibu. And if according to the plan, maybe 25 more will operate at December. So, bye bye sexy one, and welcome to the robo-era.

This robot operated with a remote control by nearest lifeguard for now, but the next version will be completely automated. It will be equipped by sonar that can determine if a swimmer is in danger, and automatically go to the location to tow the swimmer. Seems looks like a dolphin for me. The maker, a company called Hydronalix, makes this to work alongside human lifeguards.

So, how it will works? One, EMILY can either patrol in solo or be thrown from beach, helicopter or ships. Two, the sonar will find a distressed swimmer and go for it at 28mph. Three, the swimmer then can reach the robo-saver and it will tow him to the beach or just wait for the rescue. In a single charge of EMILY batteries, it can go for 80 miles away.

HoodieBuddie your iPhone 4 Buddy

After crawling the lines for brand new iPhone 4, and checking it out for the error. No yellow bands, no pixel constellation, the SIM card is okay, volume buttons is okay. Hmm, except the antenna problem, everybody has the error, that’s okay too. You put it in your pocket and put the headphone on. In a second you realize how the wire will tangled you. Yes, this problem also for everybody.

You need a HoodieBuddie to entangle the problem. It’s a normal hoodie, but what makes the difference? A normal hoodie have strings around the neck, which we almost never use that. HoodieBuddie is specially replacing the string with ear buds, with a 3,5mm jack in the right pocket to jacked your iPhone or iPod.

The second best thing is, your new iPhone 4 buddy is machine washable. Yes, you have no worry if your HoodieBuddie is getting dirty. But one bad things maybe happened when u wear this hoodie. Some people may think that you a re a little bit crazy, coz you put your hoodie string into your earsJ. You can get this cool hoodie only for just US$44 and will be available in July.

Concept: Solar Camera Strap

If you look at the title, yes I mean it; it’s only a concept for now. But I believed it’s a neat idea, next I’ll tell you why. This concept is design by Weng Jie at Yanko Design (YankoDesign.com).

Why I think this is a great idea? It’s because the nature of DSLR Camera battery usage that is requires only a little power. If you already have this kind of camera, maybe sometimes you forgot to recharge the battery, right? Beside that, the size of the solar cells panels is big enough to provide the energy, and maybe we could use it to charge our cell phones too. But I warned you that cell phone is using more power that a DSLR. That’s why the idea of USB solar charges is not great than this one.

If somebody can put solar cells in a backpack, why not put it in camera strap? I believed many of photographers that now out there in World Cup 2010 Africa would cheers for this idea.  The main question now is who would produce this product? Where we can buy it and at what price? Hope this will come soon.

iPhone 4 Checklist: Before leaving the store

This time if you do not lines up for the 1st day of iPhone 4 releases, lucky for you. With a massive selling, comes a massive feedback about this product. People keep posting some errors when they received it, maybe FoxConn is too tired making this huge orders worldwide.

Errors that reported here is basically is minor compared to all iPhone 4 that already sold out. I mean it’s not a widespread except the antenna issues. But better if we carefully check thorough the lists before leaving the store, okay lets get started:

  1. SIM Failure: mostly it happens when you buy with SIM card inside; some have a scratch in the card.
  2. Proximity Sensor: this happened during a call, your ear accidentally hit mute button or else.
  3. Camera: simply the app is not working, frozen.
  4. Volume Buttons: fabrication error, the + and – button swapped
  5. Screen: yellow bands or white dots
  6. Voice cancellation/faulty microphones: some calls cannot be heard, have to switch to speakerphone

One massive error is only iPhone 4 antenna problems for now, but you can solve this problem in Apple way or just in simple way.

Apple way         : don’t hold like that

Simple way       : just use case, or some kind of protector

That’s it for now, hope this help.

Wi-Fi Analyzer: Analyze the Best Hotspot for Android

Want to connect to a hotspot but cannot decide the best connection? Just picking the strongest signal did not do the work. If the strong signaled hotspot is too crowded with users, then it’s not the best hotspot connection for you.

So you will need this handy free android app to equip your android in the hotspot “war zones”. It’s called Wi-Fi Analyzer; it will analyze the best hotspot connection for your droid. Not only displaying the best signal strength, but it also compared with channel rating. The term “channel rating” means how busy is the channel, or how crowded is the hotspot. But let’s forget about the terms, the use is of this app is very easy. You will see some arc in the graph, just picked the highest arc, and that’s it! In the picture above, you just picked the red arc then. If you already connect to a hotspot, you can also compare it; just press “Set My AP” from the menu.

The only flaw of this app is, it cannot make the hotspot connection for you. It just displays all hotspots connection and you will make the connection yourself. But don’t worry if you want to connect, just use Wi-Fi Connector Library app. Just crawl the market for it, and it’s also a free app!
