Augen Gentouch 78 Android Tablet: Price Speaks for Quality

Gentouch 78 Android tablet has now been released. The producer launches its product with only $150 for the price. It is such an amazing as the tablet is completed with Android 2.1. Of course with such price, there are weaknesses to be found on the features and performances.

First of all, let’s take a look at the hardware. As can be expected, the body is made of plastic with black as the full color. This plastic is light, but it is not that sturdy. To hide the plastic, there is faux leather case to be the cover. A micro USB port, a micro SD slot, and 2.5mm headphone jack are available. The 7-inch screen has resistive display with 800 x 480 for the resolution. The tablet itself is quite fast with 800 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM. The onboard memory may only be 2 GB, but with micro SD, it can be soon upgraded into 16 GB.

There are shortcuts on the display for YouTube, Skype, Google Market, Gmail, iReader, and some others. For Android users, these applications are profitable. But, they may need to call Augen staff before installing Google Market. It is because an update may be needed to activate the access. Although YouTube and Gmail can be opened without hassle, Skype seems resistant to work.  Well, for such affordable price, tablet users should not complaint much on the package!

Hate to Walk? Use Segway, Instead

What would people do without the people movers? They walk, perhaps. Unfortunately, walking is not the best solution for some people, especially the elderly, the people who are injured or are in any circumstances that have rendered less than the ambulatory. For those people, the Segway may be a bonanza.

It was just so long before the hit of the knock-offs which is the testament to the legally innovative design of Segway that it still took for something like this. Perhaps no one knew that it worthwhile. The Ewee-PT is a knock-off of Segway just the same way the Chinese iClones are: mimic the look, ape the functionality, and also reduce the cost.

In this way, Segway’s functionality is not yet complete while it is able to do balance on its own and users lean to decelerate and accelerate, they control the steering with the joystick. Its look is present and the little wheels may not be sufficient enough for off-roading, anyway. The Segway costs around $1,039. It is quite expensive and it seems that there will not be many people use this machine. It seems that the Ewee-PT needs to lower down the price once again so it will be more useful for others.

The Stig Copter: Is It Fun to Play with?

For those who live outside the UK, here is something that they may have missed. Top Gear is indeed the most famous TV program in the world. There are more than 350 million viewers and it is actually quite surprising that there are not more licensed products in the marketplace out there. It seems that James May have his very own line of Captain Slow sweater, and both Hammond and Clarkson could sell their hair products. Yet, in any case, the Stig is one of the most enigmatic and popular cast members and he has finally got a product of his own.

It is the Stig Copter. The idea comes from mini helicopters which are pretty fun. In addition, this product seems to be like a quite high tech version of its breed. The heli is based around the rechargeable aluminum frame. It gives around 8 to 15 minutes of flight per charge.

The Stig Copter’s body is made based on Stig’s helmet design. It gives the helicopter a supernatural cornering and also the ability to translate the Morse code. The bad news is that this Stig Copter can be ordered from the UK and it costs $60 before shipping.

The Nintendo’s 3DS Will Announce Its Release Date on September 2

The Nintendo 3DS are becoming the E3 2010 star for some good reasons. It is indeed the long-awaited refresh which brings good quality of glasses-free 3D gaming to the platform of DS. It is actually quite amazing. In fact, Nintendo has revealed the next gaming console at the biggest gaming trade show, yet they did not announce its price and the release date.

Actually, the release date is not the one that most people are curious about. It is indeed how Nintendo is going to price its 3DS. When users spend only two minutes playing with this, they will now that it is not a cheap kit and it seems that there were lots of R7D spent to develop the software and hardware. It is expected that Nintendo will price its 3DS around $200. It does not mean that it will fail even if it costs $250 to $300 because it is still a Nintendo.

It looks like Nintendo is having a press conference in the late of September. The plan is to launch the 3DS in the holiday season, probably shortly after New Year. Yet, let us hope on the leaky Internet that will give some information or clues of its release date.

Cheap E-Readers yet They are Junk

The Ocean Reader Copia Tablet, an e-reader which costs $99, has been announced and people start to enter the familiar territory. People may remember that netbooks have gone through an equal race to the bottom as the ebooks, and the Ocean Reader is indeed the first to hit the marketplace with any fanfare.

There are now two or three popular platforms in the e-readers or tablet poke world that will enter a weird market. The Kindle is indeed far and also away the most vigorous and it is followed by the Sony e-readers, supported by the PDF downloaders and also tailed by the Nook. While a device as Streak which is multi-purpose, exists in this e-reader world, other e-readers which advertises themselves as a main e-reader will get sunk.

It is believed that e-readers can survive the e-reader’s race to the bottom as it serves a very specific purpose to last in a long time. It is not as a netbook, in which e-readers are no dangerous pro-junk e-reader owners. E-readers are indifferent and they are actually disappointed by the selections of ebooks available to them. In addition, it is a wise decision not to buy the Ocean Reader. Buy a Kindle instead. It is much worth it.

Toshiba’s New 2.5” Hard Drives

Toshiba has just released its new line of the 2.5” mobile drives. This 7200 RPM SATA drive is designed for those demanding users and those who demand the optimization of power consumption, performance and also durability requirements.

Toshiba has also released three total drive lines, in which each of it offers a different role in the small-form-factored computing system. The first is the MKxx61GSY which is designed for gaming machines, high-end notebooks and also mobile workstations. Its size ranges from 160GB up to 640GB and will be available on the Q3 of 2010. The next hard drive is the MKxx61GSY line which is used for applications that require more stamina such as Facebook’s photo gallery. It is designed for speed and storage capacity as well as power consumption, acoustics and durability. The size ranges from 80GB up to 500GB and will be available on the Q4 of 2010.

The last is Toshiba’s Self-Encrypting Drive line or the SED line that is used for secretive tasks which requires clearance. This line is normally use for secret agents and government’s needs as it follows the standards of security from the TCG Opal Specification. There are no further details about its release date.

Apple’s Cinema Display: Makes You Feel at the Real Cinema

After reaching a very old age in the rapidly cycling technology world, the 24-inch LED Cinema Display from Apple is getting itself a new sister today. It is the new 27-inch display which clocks in at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and sports an aspect ratio of 16:9 and also does it all for $999. It may not sound as a steal, yet the similar product from Dell, the U2711 which also offers the same resolution for the IPS, retails for more than @1,099.

For that price, Apple includes a USB hub which has three ports powered, a built-in camera of iSight, and also a MagSafe connector to charge up the MacBook. The Cinema Display looks like the previous 24-inch display, yet Apple has built this display to be the companion for MacBook because one cable breaks out into the Mini DisplayPort, a USB and also MagSafe that are required by those devices. Apple launched various updated new products lately, from the new iMacs to Mac Pros to Magic Trackpad device. Lost inside those products was a small Apple’s new product that was launched; the Apple Battery Charger.

Yet, just because this product is not as pricey or as big as the other Apple products, do not ever think Apple does not love it. In fact, Apple makes sure to spend some time to talk about their battery charger. Apple says that they are proud of the Apple Battery Charger for its new compact and sleek design because Apple itself managed to take a new product that the other companies are working for it and is still trying to perfect it.

In fact, most manufacturers do not really care about battery chargers. This situation allows Apple to create a product which performs much better than the average. What Apple means by this is that the Apple Battery Charger uses only 30 milliwatts when this battery completes one charge cycle. Apple sells this product for $29 and it comes with 6 rechargeable batteries of AA NiMH. These batteries are definitely long shelf-life. Apple seems very confident about this product as it claims this product can last to 10 years.

Some of Props from Lost Are Being Auctioned Off

Lost was indeed a cool show, yet it actually got a little tedious after coming in the first few seasons. The show is over now and all the props from Lost series are getting auctioned off. Among those series are the things such as the satellite phone Dharma Beer, Naomi carried, Camaro Hurley the sweet orange and other things more.

One of the props from Lost that are getting auctioned off that may bring some interests to the geeks is the Apple-II Plus along with its Disk-II floppy drive and Apple-III monitor. You may say that the system and the computer that Desmond and that the others needed to use to enter those numbers every 108 minutes.

The failure of Desmond to enter the numbers just on time is what makes the flights of all the survivors were on to get a crash. The prop computer was actually used at both the Pearl and Swan station sets. It is not yet clear if the machine is still working or not. We cannot predict how much that thing will be able to go for. Therefore, there is no further detail on what will be going to Lost after some of its props are being auctioned off.
