GM Will Announce Chevy Volt Price Soon

The Chevy Volt is indeed slowly and definitely creeping towards the GM and dealers is about to set to unveil its price tomorrow. Joel Ewanick, the VP of US marketing, at 12.00 p.m. will make an announcement during the Plug-In 2010 Conference in California.

It is sure that things has changed a lot for 3 years span it has been able to take the Volt to hit the production. Nearly almost every major car company sells a new hybrids and also is about to launch the new one soon. There are also some pure electric vehicles which will be perfect for the marketshare now. Yet, since Chevy Volt will save any hurdle in major manufacturing, it should be indeed the first mass-produced of the Extended Range Electric vehicle that will hot the streets in US.

GM has also said that Chevy Volt will be able to save the company and that it will have a huge halo effect. Customers will have no doubt flock to the dealerships only to see it. This Volt is predicted to hit the marketplace with a $37,000 MSRP which will work out up to $29,500 after tax credit. It sounds like it is not in everyone’s price range.

Toshiba AC100 is not All That Impressive

Honestly, when the new Toshiba, the 10.1-inch AC100 smartbook, was launched last months, it really looked like a nice clamshell though we are not that surprised that Hi-tech.mail.ru reported it would rather lack after putting it throughout the paces.

However, the good news says that the Russian site has found the 1.9-lb smartbook to be very light and thin, and it did not have ergonomic issue with its touchpad and keyboard. What about the bad news? It is the 1GHz Tegra which is of 250-powered lappie that runs the Android 2.1. Yet, like the other Android tablets or netbooks, AC100 does not have any access to the marketplace.

In addition, the reviewers are not all impressed with its 4.5 hours of video playback. In terms of its credit, the AC100 is able to play 1080p video in that it is typical to netbooks which are powered by Intel Atom N450, or the Toshiba’s smartbook, or it also looks like a mixed bag. In sum, it seems that the AC100 is not as it is expected since there are still some missing details. There are some lacks of features in this smartbook which makes it not worth buying. After all, the users will decide.

It is Likely that Apple Will Launch the New Improved iMac This Year

If every the new gossip is true, it seems that Apple is now preparing to fully overhaul all of its computer line from Mac Pro, iMac and MacBook Air. The AppleInsider mentioned it is likely that the iMacs retail supplies are dwindling. In addition, Apple said to at least one distributor to not expect any coming shipments. The last time it happened, we could see the new Mac Mini appeared not so long after that.

HDMI is perhaps excited now that it is available on the Mac Mini. Yet, it is indeed the GPU and CPU options that needs to get the biggest hit. Apple needs to drop its Core 2 Duo altogether and get a complete line for its Intel Core CPUs. The quad core i5s and the dual core itself will seem to drop their price-point with the new Core i7 option retaining the first top. There is even a gossip that the new iMac will use a huge iOS screen version and it will also be touchscreen.

Yet, what about the Blu-ray drive. It is indeed not as expensive as before and it looks slim enough. However, Apple may have addressed the most difficult obstacle; the HDMI which is essentially needed by the Blu-Ray Disc Association before they will license manufacturers for the new optical format.

The Green Hotel Prototype Unveiled by the Marriott International

The Marriott International launched a prototype today that will help the company to build greener LEED-certified hotels. The company mentions that the prototype is the first of prototype hotels in the US. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED is indeed a voluntary rating system which is developed by the USGBC or the US Green Building Council. The buildings which have LEED-certified are designed to reach the environment goals, such as reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, landing waste, conserving water and energy, as well as lowering the operating costs.

The Courtyard Charleston or the Summerville is indeed the first Marriott hotel which follows the new green design. It is hoped to begin to open for business in 2012 in South Carolina. By using the prototype, the Marriott International will save the hotel oversize for six-moth design time for each hotel. The company plans to unrevealed the same prototypes for other brands in the coming years, including the Residence Inn.

The Marriot International expects to save more than $100,000 and water and energy savings up to 25% on each hotel that is built based on the prototype. In fact, going green is not something new to Marriott. The company owns almost LEED-certified hotels and it also plans to raise it to 300 by 2015.

Mid-Century Modern PC Serves You as a Desk and a PC at the Same Time

While the die-hards get ready for their Season 4 debut this weekend, Jeffrey Stephenson indeed works on such sweet re-imagination of a personal computer or PC that will fit just right in at any kinds of mid-century living room or office. He created what we call as the Mid-Century Modern PC. Yet, the concept of this computer is not complete yet though it sounds fine to take a look at the concept first.

Stephenson wanted to resolve the question of ”What if the IBM invented a PC twenty years earlier from now?” for design website Core77. In fact, he conquered Art Deco, Mission-style and also Machine Age PC concepts. Both his past projects and the Mid-Century Modern PC project are completely functional computers.

Stephenson gets his inspiration from a 1964-Danish desk that he found on eBay. He then tried to design a Mid-Century Modern PC by using a concept of a desk. It looks fantastic, actually. The PC can be used both as a desk and as a PC itself. In addition, he made the legs on the desk a bit higher so that the PC will not touch the floor. It surely prevents it from getting wet when you have to mop the floor.

MA-WPR2, the Wireless Mouse for Your Presentation

Sanwa Supply, a Japan-based company, is now offering their new product of a wireless mouse. The wireless mouse is called MA-WPR2 that is specially designed for organizing and controlling presentations. We need to say thank you to the built-in gyro sensor so that we can move the wireless mouse around just like a Wiimote. This wireless mouse can highlight several areas with its built-in laser pointer or light, or we can also zoom in and out of the pages, or even underline and write some texts with a virtual pen. In fact, we can also flip pages by just moving our hands.

The MA-WPR2 is designed to work in the 2.4GHz band. It can also be used up to 15 meters away from the receiver. The users can merely charge the devise through the USB in which one charge can hold an operation up to 35 hours. Yet, this wireless mouse is only compatible to Windows XP, Vista and 7 computers.

Autom, the Weight-Loss-Coach Robot

Autom is indeed just a tiny robot and he is in fact getting a lot closer to availability. What does he do? Yes, Autom is designed to coach us to lose weight. As a matter of fact, it is a dieting robot. So, how to use this thing? We start off by putting some details about our diet, our fitness level as well as the exercised into its databank. Autom will then sit on our countertop and have daily normal conversation with us, though we may assume it will be full of many reassuring aphorisms and a ‘go-get-them’ talk.

Autom is designed by Cory Kidd, the one who also built the first iteration by hands. It is invented when Kidd was studying at the MIT. Autom is now set to have some trials in the US next year with most of insurance companies.

It is sure that people want to have a healthy living. It is also true that people love everything about robots. Yet, we may need to incline to take a pass on this Autom if the reason is only beause we cannot stand to hear the real truth 100% of the time. There are no further details about its pricing yet.

Manufacturing Challenges Cause Apple Delays The Release Of White iPhone 4

The new iPhone 4 has been released to the market but it seems that it takes longer time to release the White iPhone 4. According to Apple, the White iPhone 4 will be available in the market at the end of 2010. This is surely annoying news for people who have been waiting for the white model.

At the end of June, Apple stated that the White iPhone would be available in the market in the mid of July and the delay is caused by manufacturing challenges. However, Apple didn’t give further explanations about manufacturing challenges that they face. Last week, Apple held a press conference and said that the White iPhone 4 would be released at the end of July. Only within a week, the statement changes again. Apple said that supply of the black model won’t be affected by the shortage of the white model. The black model can be ordered at June 15th and people think that the white model would be available a week later. Unfortunately, the manufacturing challenges make Apple delay the release of the white model to the public.

The issue of the White iPhone 4 delay is discussed on many websites now. They are questioning on what problems that Apple actually has and keep guessing the reasons why Apply delays the release.
