Garmin Ltd. has been long known as a leading manufacturer especially in satellite navigation services. Garmin has been manufacturing and selling aids for navigational jobs with GPS (Global Positioning System) technology since 1989. Navigators from Garmin are used by applications for aviation, wireless, communication, automotive, and mobile industries.
In 2010, Garmin once again makes a breakthrough by releasing GPS navigator the Garmin Edge 800. Unlike any other old traditional Garmin navigators, this type is a touchscreen one. This GPS navigator is intended for cyclists who need simple and accurate tracker for their race or fun trip. The Garmin Edge 800 combines the features presented in the previously released Garmin Edge 705 and Garmin Edge 500 with the addition of touchscreen technology.
Garmin Edge 800 is equipped with mapping technologies of BaseCamp and BirdsEye Satellite Imagery for comfortable touring. Garmin Edge 800 receives the Eurobike Award as the best electronic device installed in bicycles. In the North American area, this new product from Garmin is planned to be released at the Interbike International Bicycle Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meanwhile Europe consumers will interface with this GPS navigator at the Eurobike which will be held on early September 2010 in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.
