The Magic Trackpad has just generated some controversies in the TC network. They think that it signals the end of mouse era. It is indeed a great tool yet it is still lauded by a group of people who are unfamiliar with the Mac users. Some people love both the trackpads from Apple and also the mice, yet it looks like they overlook the real conflict here.
The next input generation is already here, the Magic Trackpad, yet there are chances people have it in their pocket. However, if we advance as it is, there are also fundamental shortcomings which are about to prevent it from fully supplanting the interfaces that we have grown up with.
That technology is indeed a touchscreen. Someone may be tempted to say that a multi-touch touchscreen is indeed in the same category as the multi-touch trackpad. To make it understandable, people use the same gestures, rotate and pinch, or those kinds of things. Yet, when people use a Magic Trackpad or a mouse, they are indeed looking somewhere else in which it moves a representation of their finger or hand. It is actually a manipulation because when they use a touchscreen, they are still looking at and also touching the same thing.
