People first knew this headset at E3, in which it made the debut at the same time with the in-ear Scout and also the Negotiator or an adaptor that allows users to use either headset with Xbox 360 or PS3. Some people also found their possession shortly after that and they also use it on and off for some times as their primary headset. It is called the Specialist.
The Specialist is indeed designed as a portable headset which design goal manifests itself in some ways. First, this headset is indeed foldable. It is not like users can fold it down to nothing, yet they can flip the earcups up to reduce the footprint of the headset by quite a bit. Users can fit it into a small pocket and it is not an awkward headset.
The next way people see the portability thing is indeed the retractable microphone. Some other headsets have the SteelSeries and the Specialist does not do it in other ways, yet it does it right. Its cord coils up the inside left earcup and the outside of the earcup spins to reel it back in. in addition, the microphone feels a little short though it still sounds great.
