This week, Inhabitat reviews another world-shocking technological innovation it is devoted to. Its environmentally friendly concepts attract some creative innovators to take a part. As its commitment to the energy saving programs, it introduces ‘wind lens’ turbines that could increase energy generation up to three times of the normal turbines.
The rationales behind the invention includes the fact that wind turbine seems to be one of the most influential tools for energy generations in most parts of the world. It is called ‘Wind Lens’ since the world ‘lenses’ can laterally things. The wind exposed to the turbine will be magnified by its lenses mechanism of works. The Wind Lens Turbine was invested by a team from Kyushu University and was presented in Yokohama Renewable Energy International exhibition 2010. It has not been mass produced; however, it has invited positive reactions.
The Wind Lens has a dimension of 112 meters. It is estimated to be able to meet the energy requirements for thousands of household. It is a promising invention as an alternative to conventional offshore wind turbines. It is also an energy-efficient innovation in that it reduced the energy requirements for generating the electric powers while keeping the environment from terrible pollution as usually associated with conventional wind turbines. Let’s hope the competent authority make it true.
