At the last IFA 2010 event held in Berlin, some surprises happened. Many manufacturers exhibit their previously unannounced products in their booth stands. One of the secrets revealed is taken from a company which especially produces computer accessories, Genius. A contributor from Engadget Spanish found this device and had the time to use and review it: A Ring Mouse.
What is a Ring Mouse? Is it a ring which functions as a mouse, or a mouse that looks like a ring?
It was said that Genius has released the Ring Mouse at the Computex, but it was a silent introduction. No press release or any chance to have a preview of the device. The ring mouse holds a futuristic design which can only be imagined in science fiction movies before. By Genius, the imagination was made real. The Ring Mouse uses an optical trackpad, one of the usual devices we commonly see in nowadays cellular phones.
To make the Ring Mouse works in controlling the mouse in Personal Computers, the Ring Mouse is equipped with wireless 2.4 GHz model. The Ring Mouse is controlled by the user using his/her thumb. Below the trackpad, there are two small buttons which are obviously functioning ad the right and left clickers. Until now, the pricing for the Ring Mouse is unknown.
