Portable S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB Chipset from Samsung for Variable Devices

On September 2, 2010, Samsung gave good news for computing industry. The company will release new WUSB chipset for portability use. The chipset is entitled the Samsung S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB. Initially, the WUSB chipset is intended for usages in devices like Televisions, Personal Computers, camcorders, and HD cameras. During the development process, it is possible for the chipset to also connect to other gadgets like printers, tablet PCs, portable Hard Drives, beam projectors, Blu-ray players, and cellular phones.

The chipset works by transmitting wireless content from portable devices to the said devices. The chipset does not consume a lot of power which is the winning feature of the new chipset. Averagely, the Samsung S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB requires not more than 300 mW while working and able to deliver maximum 480 Mbps of data rate. The small power needed by the Samsung S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB makes this chipset suitably used with portable devices.

The Samsung S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB is made with the base of ARM 9 and equipped with the WiMedia v1.2 PHY. It is also attached controllers for SD card, SD host, SDIO and NAND. Today the Samsung S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB is released just for the sample for certain consumers. The en masse manufacturing will be done in the last trimester of 2010.
