Improved Performance is Vowed by Apple by Updating Remote App

Apple presents an updated version for Apple TV and iPad users. The recent version, Version 2.0, has brought considerable support for the users, but Apple has just announced that there will be a minor update of Remote App for iOS devices. The new version brings a much-anticipated feature, i.e. support for AirPlay video streaming. Airplay video streaming allows the users to stream the videos directly from the iOS to a supporting PC.

More interestingly, Remote App is also built with a capability to access internet radio stations from iTues on the computer. As a rule, Remote App is built to turn the iOS or iPod into a remote control to access Apple TV or iTune. It also provides a support for the users to control movies and TV shows on Mac computer as well as the usual stability and performance improvements. The Apple users can benefit from the app free of charge.

Remote App allows the users to control the iTune library and Apple TV on Apple’s Mac computer as conveniently as playing the music or videos through the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The users can freely choose the song, shuffle an album, play forward or backward, or skip to the next track. With improved and user-friendly features, the app is expected to provide the Apple customers with greater satisfaction.

Why Does Logitech Postpone Logitech Revue Production?

Since its first introduction, Google TV has brought some criticism with it. Few days before the end of the year, one of the Google TV’s manufacturing partners, Logitech, noted that it is going to stop the production of the Google TV hardware, Revue, until Google updates Google TV software. The decision was made after Google told its partners that it is not going to show new products at CES 2011 event despite the controversies over the performance of Google TV.

Logitech has officially announced the halting of Logitech Revue production for two months, i.e. December 2010 to January 2011. When the updated version of Google TV software is available, the Revue production will probably be resumed.  However, Revue is still available at Logitech, but with no additional stock. No detail is available on the exact reason behind the production pause. A rumor states that Revue has not reached its targeted sale.

Some reports show that under-optimal sale of Revue is attributable to the poor performance of Google TV. The statement of Google for not showing new products at CES that will be held in January 2011 was interpreted as a negative repercussion of Google with Logitech. Hopefully, Google TV will make an improvement in its features; therefore, it will be able to have a real competition with Apple TV soon.

It is able to run at 833MHz. BenQ seemingly plans to make a striking difference in the battery life. The battery will run for 12 hours. It must be amazing!

The facilitate the navigation, the R100 Android tablet can be facilitated by a stylus pen, which can be used for note-taking, even though no detail is available on whether a stylus pen will be included in the pack. The customers will be provided with an 8GB of internal storage (which can be expanded to 16 GB using SD card), an SD slot, mini-USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a mini-HDMI socket.  Of course, radio and Bluetooth module are compulsory features.

So far, BenQ has not leaked any information on pricing. Nor exact image is available on internet. BenQ keeps it mysterious until the official launching. Therefore, if some websites put an image of R100 Android tablet, it must be a speculated image. It will be available first in China and Taiwan in the first quarter of 2011.

KinEmote Gesture Control, Use Your Hand as a Remote Control

Navigating the menus of Boxee and XMBC media portals is sometimes a daunting task when the users do not have a convenient platform. Here begins the creative idea of KinEmote. It is an easy-to-use gesture control application. KinEmote works with Windows devices. It allows the users to navigate the menu of media portal using nothing but hand gestures. The hand gesture is then captured by Microsoft’s Kinect camera.

KinEmote gesture control is very useful for daily operation when you use an HD Media PC. KinEmote is now available in free public beta for Windows 32- and 64-bit systems. Beta version implies that the product has not been finalized. The customers can try out the application and suggest some necessary improvements. The software is built around OpenNI and NITE middleware from PrimeSense. The way the application works is presented in a video. As far as the video content is concerned, KinEmote looks stunning.

KinEmote is designed by Simons and Joel Griffin. The software is provided for casual users to enjoy on a daily basis. Indeed, KinEmote is a practical application. Anyone can install and use it free of charge. The public beta was intentionally released before the Christmas to enable the users to enjoy it during the holiday season. It reduces the dependence upon a remote control to navigate the menu of media portals. Just use your hand gesture as a remote control!

AirMediaPlayer That Allows the Users of Windows PCs to Stream Video via Airplay

Few days ago, Apple noted that its AirPlay media player is working on Windows PCs. Airplay allows the owners of iOS 4.2 to stream media to the Macs or Linux devices. Now, it is the time for AirMediaPlayer to come to Windows PC.  It means that the users of Windows PCs have the same advantage to enjoy the same convenience. The player works effectively on PCs that run Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SPI.

Devices that support Hello for Windows (included iTunes or Bonjour for Windows) and QuickTime can benefit from the device. The advantage of the player is that, after installed, it allows the users of iPad, iPhone, or iPod to stream video or music directly to a Windows PC – a convenience that has been enjoyed by Mac users. More interestingly, sending the video or music from the iPhone does not require the users to connect the device to the specified PCs.

AirMediaPlayer for Windows PCs has been available now for free download. Actually, the availability of the player is a little bit surprising since it was still in the development phase few days before, even though the coming of the player had been predicted for long. It is developed by Apostolos Georgiadis that designs the tool to stream the media via AirPlay. It is also built with backward compatibility that it works on any device equipped by AirPlay.

Updated Specs of Acer Aspire One 522, Release Date Detail Is Still a Mystery

Despite uncertain release date, some features of Acer Aspire One 522 are leaked on the internet. The device features new hardware that includes AMD Fusion chip. Yes, the new netbook boots AMD dual-core C-50 Ontario chip even though it shares some similarities with the previous model, i.e. Acer Aspire One AOD255. One of the striking differences is that Acer Aspire One 522 requires less power in that it only needs 9W to run. It also has a touchpad button that is missing in the previous model.

The netbook is built with multimedia features in mind. It hosts a Radeon 6250 graphics processor to support UVD3 accelerated video decoding and DirectX 11. However, the users are provided with moderate battery life (lasting 6 hours) and one built-in speaker.

Unfortunately, no information is available on the time of release. Engadget got a leak that the netbook costs around $425 in Thailand with some updated specs. They include Windows 7 starter as operating system, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB or HD, and an AMD C-Series C-50 processor (1GHz). HD webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 10/10 LAN have been the standard features of Acer Aspire notebooks, and you will find them in One 522.
