KinEmote Gesture Control, Use Your Hand as a Remote Control

Navigating the menus of Boxee and XMBC media portals is sometimes a daunting task when the users do not have a convenient platform. Here begins the creative idea of KinEmote. It is an easy-to-use gesture control application. KinEmote works with Windows devices. It allows the users to navigate the menu of media portal using nothing but hand gestures. The hand gesture is then captured by Microsoft’s Kinect camera.

KinEmote gesture control is very useful for daily operation when you use an HD Media PC. KinEmote is now available in free public beta for Windows 32- and 64-bit systems. Beta version implies that the product has not been finalized. The customers can try out the application and suggest some necessary improvements. The software is built around OpenNI and NITE middleware from PrimeSense. The way the application works is presented in a video. As far as the video content is concerned, KinEmote looks stunning.

KinEmote is designed by Simons and Joel Griffin. The software is provided for casual users to enjoy on a daily basis. Indeed, KinEmote is a practical application. Anyone can install and use it free of charge. The public beta was intentionally released before the Christmas to enable the users to enjoy it during the holiday season. It reduces the dependence upon a remote control to navigate the menu of media portals. Just use your hand gesture as a remote control!
