CES 2011 event was the moment for Intel to announce the second generation of Core processor family. The long anticipated Sandy Bridge processors, which are simply known as Intel Core 2011 processors, were officially announced by Intel.In addition to the new Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, Intel also included 29 new CPUs as well as new integrated graphics. Intel provides the customers with another breakthrough within less than a year after the first generation’s release.
The second-generation processors are different from the first ones in that the former is based on Intel’s 32nm micro architecture, memory controller, and graphics. Intel Core 2011 processors are smaller in design. They dynamically clock both the CPU cores and graphics to adjust the performance to the workload. In details, the newly released processors included:
· One (1) new Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition;
· Twelve (12) new Intel Core i7;
· Twelve (12) new Intel Core i5;
· Four (4) Intel Core i3;
· Ten (10) new Intel Chipsets; and
· Four (4) new Wireless Options
The new mobile and computer processors are designed with enhanced speed and user-friendly features. The enhanced graphics are supported by various platforms from Intel, including Intel Quick Sync Video for faster video transcoding, Intel Tru 3D for 3D Blu-ray playback and WiDi 2.0 for video streaming purposes. Therefore, you can expect great devices supported by the 2nd generation processors in the near future.
