Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb has been there. Indeed, Google mainly targets Honeycomb for tablets, but the release of Android 3.0 Honeycomb emulator proves that it has gone beyond just an operating system for tablet. If Honeycomb was conventionally known for tablet only, Honeycomb now has the smell of smart phone. The move is intended to provide the smart users with more access to Android Market and Google Apps.
You may wonder how Honeycomb works in your smart phone. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb emulator must be installed first into your device. The emulator allows you to load an arbitrary screen resolution to lower the default 1280 x 768 resolution, which is set for tablet. Of course, the default resolution is too large for your smart phones. The resolution is set to WVGA, which subsequently generates a different shell UI. It may look crude at the beginning, but you will soon realize that your smart phone is able to work on the Honeycomb.
Actually, it is not the first time Android release an SDK emulator for Android. However, Google does not seem to make significant improvement in the speed. The Honeycomb’s emulator is still relatively slow when it works with smart phones even though the window animation and screen look cool. The emulator is interesting enough since it smartly reverts the UI layout of the smart phone to a lower resolution.
