Nothing defeats the pleasure of driving when you still can enjoy latest information and entertainment features. The Geneva Motor Show has just revealed that the drivers can now benefit from in-car infotainment system, which is based on Android OS. The system is called Saab IQon car infotainment platform. However, it provides beyond just entertainment features, but also an automatic network sensor that serves to detect riding speed, temperature, location, workload of the car, and steering wheel angle.
The car infotainment platform is developed by combining the sophisticated technology from mobile industry with superior automotive knowledge and innovation developed by Saab. With the platform installed in Android-based devices, the car users can download a variety of applications, online multimedia contents, and many other services through Saab IQon store. The company also plans to provide a programming interface that allows for access to more signals using more sensors.
In its press release, Saab claims that Saab IQon car infotainment platform is the first to provide smarter and innovative alternative to the existing vehicle infotainment services. Now, the drivers can get connected wherever they are. The services can be enjoyed by the users of Android-based devices, like smart phones. The embedded connectivity is provided with a modem and a computer, built with an 8-inch display. Beta-version software for the car infotainment system is available before it is officially launched.
