GM Will Announce Chevy Volt Price Soon

The Chevy Volt is indeed slowly and definitely creeping towards the GM and dealers is about to set to unveil its price tomorrow. Joel Ewanick, the VP of US marketing, at 12.00 p.m. will make an announcement during the Plug-In 2010 Conference in California.

It is sure that things has changed a lot for 3 years span it has been able to take the Volt to hit the production. Nearly almost every major car company sells a new hybrids and also is about to launch the new one soon. There are also some pure electric vehicles which will be perfect for the marketshare now. Yet, since Chevy Volt will save any hurdle in major manufacturing, it should be indeed the first mass-produced of the Extended Range Electric vehicle that will hot the streets in US.

GM has also said that Chevy Volt will be able to save the company and that it will have a huge halo effect. Customers will have no doubt flock to the dealerships only to see it. This Volt is predicted to hit the marketplace with a $37,000 MSRP which will work out up to $29,500 after tax credit. It sounds like it is not in everyone’s price range.

Vibrating Auto Seat Sends Signals to Warn the Driver When a Car is too Close

Every time we turn our head around, the auto manufacturers are always developing loads of new sensors and displays. At what point actually does a driver hit the sensory overload? That is a question prompting John Morrell, a man who works at Yale School of Engineering as an associate professor, to locate 20 vibrating mobile phone motors in a rectangular range inside the driver’s seat. It is called the vibrating auto seat.

Some different warning signals were devised in this vibrating auto seat. It included the positional warnings, in which a person approaches closely behind will automatically set off the center of the range, meanwhile a car that is approaches from the right or left will automatically set off the motors on the right or left respectively.

The first tests were done on such simulator based on TORCS or the Open Racing Car Simulator platform. So far, things look quite promising. Gizmag mentioned that the vibrotactile feedbacks improve the performance of the drivers over that has attained by only using the rearview mirror. It also helps to warn of vehicles that are hidden by mirror blind spot. When drivers drive a car with vibrating auto seat in it, it will give alerts and can also minimize accidents.

Low Cost E-Scooter: the EC-03

Yamaha Japan has just released the EC-03, an electric scooter with 50cc capacity which is powered by lithium ion battery of 50V/14Ah. This scooter can run up to 43 km or at around 30 km/h on a flat road per charge. The charge itself takes around six hours. Yamaha also says that this electric scoter is all we need.

In addition, Yamaha claims that the charge of this Smart Minimal Commuter, that is what the e-scooter named, will set us back $0.20 per charge in electric costs. The EC-03 is sized at only 1.565 m X 0.6 m x 0.990 m, it weighs 56 kg and it has a minimum of 1.7 m of turning radius. In addition, its wheels are of lightweight aluminum and it even has a high-function LCD panel as well as electronic throttle.

In addition, it is completed with suspension of large diameter of spring coils for more comfortable ride. This EC-03 is also a zero-emission electric scooter. It will predictably go on sale in September, in the metropolitan area in Tokyo. It will be followed by sale for other areas in Japan a month later, in which this e-scooter will cost $2,850. The EC-03 is available in brown and white. In addition, Yamaha also plans to make international sales.

When we live in big cities, we tend to see cars everywhere. Of course, most people who live in big cities depend on cars as their means of transportation. Yet, some people complain about the amount of gasoline they have to buy to make their cars run. It is widely known that the price of gasoline is going up slowly. WattStation is available in many different colors and it is planned to be globally produced in the coming year.

RoMela: Prototype Car for the Blind

What do you have in mind when you read or hear about blind people? Those people cannot see may be the first answer you think about. It is also clear that we tend to think that those people cannot drive a car. How can a blind drive if he cannot even see the road he is taken? Wait a minute. Back up. Yes, those blind people can drive.

It is the prototype car which allows blind people to drive a car. This car is first introduced by Virginia Tech which tested its RoMela as a prototype car for blind people. RoMela tested a dirt buggy, which is guided by laser, last week. It even aims to demonstrate two SUV (full-sized and augmented) next year. In addition, Daytona racetrack plans to make two Ford Escapes with some non-visual interfaces such as the gloves, a vibrating vest, and AirPix (a device which is covered with little holes) that really looks like the road and the obstacles on the area of the vehicle.

Therefore, it now possible to see the blind drives a car. RoMela from Virginia Tech really makes the dream of the blind come true. This car will be really useful as it can help those blind people more independent in the street.

Photosynthetic Car on the Road

With the decreasing number of the fuel as the main energy of the world, people start looking for the alternative. They run the research to find the new source of energy to reduce their oil consumption. They need new energy which can be recovered to protect their future life.

Automobile industry, as the number one consumer of fuel, tries its beast to produce new cars which use no fuel as their source of energy to move the engine. After trying to produce cars with solar power and electrical power, car designer and producer are now trying to produce a green car. This car is powered by plants. Michael Vlcek and Klavir are the two designers who design this green car. The car is filled with plants which are placed surround the engine. The body of the car is made of nano-plastic that the plants can photosynthesize well. It is important because the photosynthesis is the one to empower the engine.

This idea of photosynthetic car is quite brilliant since the car is no longer consuming the fuel, but to have plants inside the body of the car is quite weird. Instead of driving the car, it feels like driving a moving garden on the road. Furthermore, people will need to water the plants and cut the branches regularly that they won’t break the body.  .

Mercedes AMG Cigarette Racing Boat

As one of the most sophisticated car producer, the Mercedes will never stop to determine and to examine their ability in order to keep on producing some excellent products that will give the consumers some kinds of certain satisfactions with the ultimate Mercedes product. Lately, the engineers of the Mercedes have decided to build the Mercedes AMG Cigarette Racing Boat. This is not a car but it’s a boat.

The Mercedes AMG and the Cigarette (a boat maker company) have decided to work together on a project to create a super boat. This boat uses the double Mercury Racing engines that each of them could produce 1,350 HP so the total power is 2,700 HP. According to the builder, this boat may reach 113 knot (or at least 130 miles per hours) so fast. This is definitely the perfect boat for some water activities lovers.

The boat is painted with the silver SLS Mercedes AMG. In the interior, they have decided to use the Napa leather for the dashboard. This boat was shown at the first time in the Miami International Boat Show 2010 with the opening price at $ 900,000 USD and its raising. For some boat lovers, this is perfect for them.

The competition between car factories to produce green car is very tight. Every car factory uses all their resources to win the competition and reach the largest total sale. In the year 2010, there are many factories launch their green cars. Each of the produce a car that is green for the environment and affordable for people to buy.

These recent years, hybrid technology is the technology that are most applied by every car factory to make a green car. This technology combines electric power and gasoline to supple the machine’s energy. All car factories race to make a better combination and result through a long research. Ford as example, they make Ford Fusion as their hybrid car in 2010. This car has some improvements in the drivetrain technology, EcoGauge panel, and the car style. With 275 volts Nickel-Metal Hyride battery and 17.5 galons of fuel, Ford Fusion can run more than 700 miles. Ford sells this car for $27,270 and $725 for delivery charge.

Honda, in the other hand, produces Honda Insight as the new green car in 2010. Honda insight improve the hybrid machine that make it has 98 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque from the gasoline plus 10 hp and 58 lb-ft of torque from the electric power. Offering a comfortable cabin and efficient machines, Honda sells the car for $20,470. These two cars are only the example of green and affordable cars that are supposed to be launch in 2010. There are many other cars that can even better.
