Extra Energy Efficient Secondary Display for Laptop

Today, Pixel Qi announced its work in the road to global domination by offering a display with extra reading screen for laptop. Laptop users who are usually bothered with reading the laptop display under direct sunlight may consider Pixel Qi 10-inch display as the alternative. The extra screen capacity can be obtained simply by plugging the screen via USB. Moreover, Pixel Qi also understands that most of the laptop users are highly mobile; thus, the newly developed display comes with lighter weight for easy transport.

The Pixel Qi display combines d-screen-HYBRID driver board and lower energy requirements. The use of the second screen display is very simple. With USB plug, the data will be automatically sent to the second display. Pixel Qi takes the advantage of 10.1” TFT Liquid Crystal Display with LED backlight that can display 262,144 colors. The USB connection system merely requires 1.5 W. What an energy-efficient device!

The support of USB / Wireless-USB as well as Ethernet connected displays is intentionally developed by Pixel Qi to make sure that the display can be utilized by most of laptop users. What is more interesting is that the Smartphone users can also benefit from the secondary display, also with the same method of use. However, no information is available on when the secondary display will be commercially available.

Despite bright display, it provides a poor viewing angle; and many parts are made of thick plastic.

Sony is going to realize its promise to launch laptop refreshes that will be targeted to Asian users. The VAIO Z series will be built with Intel Core i5-580M and Core i7-640M. They are rumored to utilize NVIDIA’s 400M mobile GPU series which were recently released for video and graphics, and Blu-ray Disc ROM drive with DVD Supermulti. Sony is also planning to launch the same products for western areas.

VAIO series will be targeted to midrange lines of customers with affordable prices even though no detailed information is available related to the pricing. Unprecedented speed is ensured with the use of Quad SSD in RAID 0 and Core i5 and Core i7 for the ultimate performance. They will also come with 13.1-inch display with glossy premium carbon. The laptops will also be supported with automatic control of Gfx mode and come with lighter weight despite lack of information on the real weight.

The real hotness for the Asian portal will be found in the F series that will be supported with NVIDIA’s GeForce 400M series and powered by Windows 7. The series will utilize full HD display that enables the users to explore the beauty of images and videos. The laptop series will be devoted to entertainment and photo solution with the support of related programs like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Still, no pricing information is yet available.

Netflix New Collection of Major Movie Studio – Starting September 1, 2010

Netflix, an online service which offers DVD and Blu-ray Disk rental by mail and video streaming has made a new deal wit three major filming studios. Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM agree to be streamed on Netflix starting from September 1, 2010. Together with Epix, Netflix will include the movies from these studios as a part of its Watch Instantly offering.

This online service based in Los Gatos, California deal with Epix will make the increasing number of subscribers to its service. The fact that the subscribers can watch the films on Netflix only 90 days after their TV debuts is delightful to mot movie lovers. LA Times reported, to make this deal with Epix, Netflix has to spend about $1 billion, which is a rather great number in the industry.

With services like Netflix has, movie lovers especially in the United States are given more alternative to watch their favorite movies. With the joining of Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM at the Netflix, a huge amount of collection will be added to Netflix’s movie library. With $1 billion as its gambling money, will this steps works for Netflix? Hopefully.

Iomega Skin Hard Drive Review

Iomega Skin is a hard drive. Users put stuff on it or even back up their computer to it. It is expected that if something bad happens to their computer, they can easily get their stuff back off the drive. This drive indeed functions as it is expected, the USB 2.0 is the normal speed that users are used to, so there is nothing special about it.

Where the Iomega Skin stands out is indeed the design. Iomega worked together with Al Borda, Skin Inc. designer, to create a product which appeals to fashion conscious users. Its external drives are also trying to get better up as well. There are 3 different options in the lone of the Skin, for example the Iomega Radical that is a retro symbol on a black top with its yellow bottom. This design does not look bad at all. There is also the Knock Out, which is a black base which has a silver top and the Skin logo in gothic designs.

The hard drive from Iomega Skin is really a great product. It has the quality of the Iomega, with a small dash of the design to make it look different from the other hard drives out there. In addition, if users go online and browse, they can pick one hard drive for less than $100.

The Green Hotel Prototype Unveiled by the Marriott International

The Marriott International launched a prototype today that will help the company to build greener LEED-certified hotels. The company mentions that the prototype is the first of prototype hotels in the US. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED is indeed a voluntary rating system which is developed by the USGBC or the US Green Building Council. The buildings which have LEED-certified are designed to reach the environment goals, such as reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, landing waste, conserving water and energy, as well as lowering the operating costs.

The Courtyard Charleston or the Summerville is indeed the first Marriott hotel which follows the new green design. It is hoped to begin to open for business in 2012 in South Carolina. By using the prototype, the Marriott International will save the hotel oversize for six-moth design time for each hotel. The company plans to unrevealed the same prototypes for other brands in the coming years, including the Residence Inn.

The Marriot International expects to save more than $100,000 and water and energy savings up to 25% on each hotel that is built based on the prototype. In fact, going green is not something new to Marriott. The company owns almost LEED-certified hotels and it also plans to raise it to 300 by 2015.
