AMD Promises Bobcat and Bulldozer to Substitute Intel’s Domination in 2011

AMD, one of the leading manufacturers providing processors for computers has issued their plan to release Bobcat and Bulldozer processors in 2011. Both are said to have different usages for different needs. The AMD Bobcat, for example, is designed to be the “brain” part of products such as netbooks or ultrathin gadgets. Meanwhile, AMD Bulldozer is aimed at equipping the inside body of CPUs.

The release of the processors in 2011 is hoped to shift Intel Atom and Xeon processors as the most generally used processors. The AMD Bobcat is especially made as one of the descendant of AMD Fusion processors. After the Ontario APU, other Fusion series, the AMD Llano is hitting the computer market at the end of the year 2010 if not in early 2011.

AMD Bulldozer can be also a part of the Fusion generation, however, the early design of this processor is not aimed at it. Rather, the Bulldozer was intended for consumers with higher computing needs. The Interlagos processor from Opteron is promoted to have half of the power the AMD Bulldozer has. Until now, the launching and winning features from AMD Bobcat and Bulldozer are just promises from AMD Company. Hope AMD will not break their promises next year.

Radeon HD 5830 is faster and cheaper HD 4890

Due to leakage from SilenX, is releasing cooling systems for CPUs and graphics cards, it became known that AMD is preparing for the announcement graphics adapter Radeon HD 5830. What is the number of functional units will have this product so far knows only the developer of Sunnyvale. Maybe he did not know just what frequency formula to reward Radeon HD 5830.

Journalists resource Guru3D.com reported that the video card Radeon HD 5830 will be more productive than the Radeon HD 4890 and thus will be more affordable. PCB design can be inherited from the older “colleagues” line of Radeon HD 5800 Series.

Announcement Radeon HD 5830 is scheduled for January 25. For this reason, have decided to buy a graphics card for under $ 200 we recommend to wait a bit.

ATI Radeon HD 5670: DirectX 11

Today, AMD announced a new video card ATI Radeon HD 5670. As in most cases, the emergence of new items was not a surprise to us. Even before the announcement of unofficial sources “sprayed” web rumors about the characteristics of the accelerator, which is worth noting, largely confirmed. In addition, there were even published a comparative test results against the Radeon HD 5670 Radeon HD 4670.

So, ATI Radeon HD 5670 is the world’s first DirectX 11-compatible graphics accelerator in the price category up to $ 100. Chip is made on the basis of the advanced 40-nm process technology, includes 627 million transistors, 400 stream processors, 20 texture units, 8 raster operation units (ROP), operates at a clock frequency of 775 MHz and has the computing power of 620 GFlops. The detailed structure of the chip is shown in the figure below.

There are two versions of the accelerator – with 512 MB and 1 GB of GDDR5-memory. The memory is clocked at 1000 MHz (effective frequency of 4 GHz), and its bandwidth is 64 Gbps. From the interfaces in the picture we see the reference sample D-Sub, DVI, HDMI. Typical power consumption innovations is 61 watts, and idle power is reduced to 14 Tues

Because technology is supported noteworthy ATI Eyefinity, which allows you to organize multiple monitors. In the ATI Radeon HD 5670 is implemented to simultaneously connect up to four monitors. Thanks to technology ATI Stream when playing flash videos in Adobe Flash player to 50% reduced load on the CPU, and significantly accelerated transcoding video CyberLink Espresso.

Unfortunately, samples of the new cards, which were intended for our test lab, were delayed at customs. Therefore, the article with conclusions about the performance of Radeon HD 5670 will be released later.

Finally, we note that in February, AMD plans to release several new products – boosters series Radeon HD 5500 and Radeon HD 5400. Decisions Radeon HD 5500 Series will be implemented in low-profile form factor and focus on the computers of small size and HTPC-system. They will also support DirectX 11, ATI Eyefinity (up to three monitors) and have low power consumption – less than 50 watts. From features Radeon HD 5450 indicated the possibility of producing solutions with passive cooling.

Available cooler GlacialStars now for AMD chips

As is known, the company GlacialTech not so long ago announced plans to start producing a line of products under new brand GlacialStars, allegedly, with its relatively low price will be characterized by an enviable quality and impressive performance. First-born of this kind has become a model GlacialStars IceHut 5059 for Intel in the performance Socket LGA775. Now the developers official press release notified the public of the withdrawal of the market cooler GlacialStars IceHut 7224, designed to divert high quality excess heat from the chips under the AMD Socket AM2/AM2 + / AM3.

GlacialStars IceHut 7224

The product has dimensions of 76 x 77 x 62 mm, weighs 240 g and structurally consists of a rectangular aluminum radiator where a fan size 70 x 70 x 25 mm. In a state of neglect speed “propeller” reaches 2,800 revolutions per minute, and he pumps up to 25 cubic feet of air per minute, and creates noise at 24 dB.
