Intel has enlivened the computer hardware industry with a number of innovative products. Two days ago, Intel announced its 25 nm solid state drives that aim at boasting capacity and improving reliability. Intel promises a four-fold longer economic life.  Intel solid state X25-M G3 is expected to be one killer drive. The capacity has been to 600 Gm with a 1.8-inch size. Likewise, the speed of reading and writing capacity are increased to 250 MB/s and 170 MB/s, respectively.

As reported by Engadget, the new Intel X25-M G3 utilizes 25 nm NAN MLC Flash memory to outperform its competitor, SandForce SF-1200 drives. However, to beat the competitors, Intel does not only have to outperform in terms of specifications but also in terms of competitive prices. Moreover, Intel tries to enhance the capability of muffling the bed effects of electric shock with “power safe write cache”.

The drives will be available at the end of this year or at the first quarter of 2011. They will be available in capacities of 80 GB, 160 GM, 300 GB, and 600 GB. However, some reviewers are not optimistic about a spectacular performance that will be provided by Intel solid state X25-M G3. Except the capacity to prevent conking due to power outages, no further information is available on the features that make Intel optimistic that the device will last longer than the competitors’ comparable products.
