Get Ready for New Generation Notebooks Powered by NVIDIA GeForce 500M GPUs

NVIDIA has enlivened the computer graphics industry since 1999. Since it firstly introduced GPU, it has consistently surprised the world with highly sophisticated products. Still from CES 2011, NVIDIA proves its standing as a leading manufacturer in computer graphics by officially launching NVIDIA GeForce 500M GPUs. It claims the new family the world’s faster mobile GPU. Some notebook retailers, including Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and many more, expect to integrate the new GPUs into their upcoming devices.

More specifically, the new GPU family is intended to support the second-generation processors from Intel, i.e. the newly official Sandy Bridge. You can image the performance of any notebooks powered by the combination of both. NVIDIA does not seemingly exaggerate its statement as far as the GeForce 500M family is concerned. The new GPUs are characterized with enhanced performance in HD, gaming applications, and 3D features. More importantly, NVIDIA GeForce 500M GPUs help prolonged the battery life of a notebook.

Included into the newly introduced NVIDIA GPUs are:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, 550M, and 555M, designed for users who put laptop’s performance as the priority;
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M and 525M, targeted at mainstream users.

NVIDIA devotes some specific advantages for the users of the new GPUs. They include 3D Vision Technology and DirectX 11 that promises strikingly superior gaming performance. Then, there are NVIDIA Verde that enables the laptop to keep the system stable and optimal.

Radeon 6000-Series Graphics from AMD Will Hit the Stores in Few Days

It was reported that the new AMD Radeons would hit the market in the next few days. Many enthusiasts are looking for the leaked specs and the like. People are curious about the replacement of the existing AMD Radeons 5000 series. The Radeon 6000-Series video cards will be casted with an ATi logo. The video cards will be readily available in many land-based stores and online stores, since the latest graphics will be extensively shipped. All of the family members of 6000-Series will be shipped at the same time.

The Radeon 6000-Series graphics are reportedly among the most eagerly awaited generation of Radeons. The 5000 series is the first generation of DirectX 11 supporting cards; and the 6000-Series will be the second generation. The enthusiasts expect many improvements in the latest version, with the reputation of AMD as a leading brand. The successor is expected to present another push for AMD.

It was few days ago that NVIDIA launched its GeForce GT 430. Engadget cited that it was specifically designed with single slot cooler that is rarely found right now. Throughout the year, NVIDIA has released a line of GeForce 400 series graphics cards. Some enthusiasts wonder what makes the new version different. Other sources cited that the GeForce GT 430 is targeted at novice users who want to build a multimedia or enjoy light gaming.

To facilitate the multimedia users, GeForce GT 430 comes with some features. They include support for HDMI 1. It is a TV standard that delivers 3D content and advanced multi-channel digital audio. It is also equipped with a special video engine that accelerates Blu-ray 3D content and delivers full 1080p HD video playback; thus, the users can enjoy the excitement of home theaters with vivid images and videos.  All of the features are combined with dedicated video processing engine that is capable of reducing the system power and heat.

NVIDIA Agrees DARPA to Build Extra Sophisticated Computer

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), based in the United States, has granted NVIDIA $25 million to build a supercomputer. This institution, under the banner of the U.S’ Defense Department has agreed to have a four years research contract with NVIDIA. With such amount of modal, NVIDIA is hoped to develop GPU computing system with best performance.

The project rooted from DARPA is officially named the DARPA Ubiquitous High Performance Computing (UHPC) program. Taken from DARPA’s press release, it is found out that NVIDIA is not the only computer manufacturer DARPA is working with. Other than NVIDIA, DARPA also cooperates with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Cray Inc., as well as other six established universities around the United States. In the future, this supercomputer project is expected to develop computers with high-performance system to overcome the what-so-called the computing crisis nowadays.

This DARPA project led by NVIDIA is expected to finish its prototype by 2018. And again, from DARPA press release, this supercomputer is calculated to have the features which is 1000 times better than today’s fastest computers. The project is among others aimed at developing the computer’s performances, programs, and its reliability.  In the future, when the program has ended and its results have been released, DARPA surely will undoubtedly have the most sophisticated computer of its era.

NVIDIA is not going to lose positions in the market of discrete graphics

Some may see this view after reading a note of our colleagues from the resource DigiTimes.com.
