The New Toshiba Tablet with Mysterious Name Gets a Flash-Based Website

Since Toshiba confirmed to release a new Android Tablet, many reviewers have been attempting to find out the name of the tablet. However, the name of the tablet is still a mystery, even though the features begin to come out one by one. After it was confirmed that the new tablet is powered by Android 3.0 or Honeycomb, another part of the mystery is revealed. The new Toshiba Android 3.0 tablet is given its own Flash-based website.

Despite a special website, the specs of the tablet are still on the cloud. Toshiba seems intentionally willing to keep the name mystery. As has been revealed before, the leaked specs of the tablet include NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800, and a replaceable battery even though no information on battery life. Toshiba also revealed that the tablet would have “Quick-Key Buttons”. Again, no detail is available on how the technology works.

Other specs available so far include a 5-megapixel rear camera, Wi-Fi, mini USB ports, HDMI output, Bluetooth and SD slots, and headphone jack. They are standardized features of current tablets, aren’t they? The new Toshiba tablet will be officially announced in the spring of the year, when Toshiba will reveal full specs and features, and of course, the name of the tablet. According to its Flash-based website, the tablet will be available in five colors – another mystery.

Toshiba Folio 100 Android tablet has been around since September this year. However, the tablet was criticized for poor performance in some aspects. Few days ago, Toshiba injected a new firmware update, coded v2.2.3.0053, for the Android-based tablet. The firmware update is offered to improve overall tablet performance and responsiveness issues that became the heart of the criticisms. Even though the update does not involve Adobe Flash Player 10.1, the users will find some conveniences.

Toshiba use Toshiba Folio 100 Android tablet firmware update to improve at least five features. Firstly, it addresses the issue of screen/soft-touch responsiveness. Secondly, the firmware eliminates performance lags. Thirdly, the firmware brings the multi-touch pinch-to-zoom feature to the tablet. It allows the users to zoom in and out of pages and images in a simpler way. Fourthly, the firmware improves view ability to provide enhanced display clarity; and finally, it smoothes video/audio processing.

To update the Adobe Flash Player 10.1, the users of Toshiba use Toshiba Folio 100 Android tablet need to download it separately. Of course, the customers expect that Toshiba will not miss it next time. Toshiba provides firmware update to the existing tablet before it launches some tablet devices in 2011, the year of Tablet War.
